Things To Do

Walk the streets where modern office towers exist side-by-side with historic buildings representing three centuries of American architectural style, from Queen Anne to Greek Revival. Visit Old Swedes Church and the rocks where the first Swedish and Finnish American settlers aboard the Kalmar Nyckel and the Fogel Grip landed and settled the first American Swedish colony, or see Delaware's history through the newly renovated Delaware History Museum. Visit Wilmington's Riverfront, the walkable neighborhood that offers year-round attractions along its 1.3-mile riverfront – IMAX movies, minigolf, museums, theater, ice skating, nature walks, and the Constitution Yards Beer Garden.

Catch a show at The Queen Wilmington, which was originally built as a hotel in the early 1800s and functioned as such until converting into a movie theater in 1916. In 1959, the hotel closed its doors and sat dormant for the next 50 years. After undergoing a $25m renovation, The Queen finally reopened in 2011, with Live Nation taking over management in 2017. A staple in downtown Wilmington, The Queen brings top entertainment talent across all genres to the stage. Featuring a state-of-the-art music hall, venue-wide renovations, and an outdoor bar, The Queen continues to build its reputation as a piece of living history.
