A local couple is starting their marriage on the right track - a train track that is!
SEPTA hosted the wedding of Autumn and Steve on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
After a luncheon at the Station Tap Room in Downingtown, the happy couple and their guests made their way to Downingtown Station on the Paoli/Thorndale Line.
Between Downingtown and Center City - Autumn and Steve actually exchanged vows on the train - in front of over 50 guests.
The celebration continued all the way to Suburban Station - where they danced their first dance as husband and wife to the sounds of SNACKTIME - an unapologetically positive and resonant band and a direct reflection of Philadelphia: loud, high-energy, talented, and HUNGRY! They are also a SEPTA Sounds featured artist!
With SNACKTIME in the lead - the wedding party processed out of the station and to The W Hotel in Center City.
We wish them all the best!!
Some back story: Autumn reached out to us in March 2021 asking if a wedding on the Paoli/Thorndale Line was feasible. She explained that if it wasn't for the R5 (aka the Paoli/Thorndale Line), they would have not made it through their first year - commuting between her place in Downingtown and Steve's place in Philly. Everyone knows - The Schuylkill is brutal!
We of course - LOVED the idea - but we needed to get a little closer to the date begore we could clear everything with Operations.
Autumn checked back in November 2021 and it was then that Operations gave the greenlight. We connected again in January to go over more details (train times, fares, etc.) and kept the conversation moving until the BIG DAY!
Special shoutout to SEPTA Rail Operations who went above and beyond. This train doesn't normally stop at Downingtown - but with this much notice and a lot of coordination - they were able to work it out so that it could. SEPTA Sales coordinated the fares so that all of Steve an Autumn's guests were ready to go and Station Ops were on hand at Suburban Station to aid in a smooth exit.
