It's National Underdog Day!

December 17 is National Underdog Day and therefore the perfect day to highlight our favorite SEPTA dog - the pup, the myth, the legend… PAWS!
Paws has been a member of the SEPTA squad since 1999! That's 154 years in dog years! That’s impressive tenure!
Paws works in the System Safety department and enjoys promoting safety awareness to our employees, customers, and youngsters throughout the region.
Paws’ favorite part of the job is seeing the smiling faces of humans when assisting them. He feels extra special when he helps them get home safely to their families and furry friends.
For over 20 years, Paws can proudly say he helps make SEPTA the SAFE way to go.
To promote his message, Paws travels to schools and attends events throughout the area to teach humans of all ages about maintaining safety when navigating the system.
Besides Underdog Day, Paws’ favorite time of year is Fire Safety week in October. During Fire Safety Week, Paws gets to team up with his canine pal, Gentry, from the Philadelphia Fire Department. The two of them make a pawsitively wonderful team in keeping the city safe.
Paws’ greatest inspirations are Clifford, Lassie, and Balto but most of all, he is truly inspired by SEPTA employees. He is moved by their dedication to the city and the people they serve. He is also very impressed by how they keep the region in motion while simultaneously remaining one of the safest transit systems in the country.
As the unsung hero of transit safety, Paws would like to remind everyone to never count out the underdog!
