The blitz is back! Starts Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10p and runs thru 5a on Monday, July 26, 2021.
Because of this work, SEPTA Trolley Routes 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36 will not operate in the Center City tunnel from 10p on Friday, July 9 through 5a on Monday, July 26.
Trolley service will begin and end at 40th and Market Streets; trolleys will use their alternate diversion service routing to connect to SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line at 40th and Market Streets. Trolley passengers can board the Market-Frankford Line at 40th Street Station for travel to-and-from Center City, as the work efforts will not affect that service.
HERE'S WHAT WE ARE DOING DURING THE 2021 TROLLEY BLITZ:
Demolish and rebuild the full length of the eastbound 22nd Street platform, rebuild entire track bed and pour new concrete decking.
Replace worn track curved rail at 37th Street eastbound and 15th Street westbound. This helps to maintain safe operations along curved portions of the Tunnel.
Complete column plate repairs.
Replace 4 miles of overhead contact wire.
Complete heavy maintenance on Ludlow Switch.
Test and maintenance work on entire Tunnel signal system.
Heavy cleaning, maintenance, and improvement campaign at all stations including painting, lighting, graffiti removal, drain and pipe cleaning.
We thank you for your cooperation and your patience while we continue our work to improve service, safety, and travel comfort in the Trolley Tunnel!
