SEPTA would like to advise customers about upcoming service adjustments due to track work along the Route G Bus.
This project includes the excavation and renewal of the existing trolley tracks on 58th Street between Chester Avenue and Woodland Avenue. Construction will take place from Tuesday, September 8 through Saturday, November 7, 2020. Normal construction hours are – Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. (Occasional weekend work may be needed.)
Route G will be detoured during this time. Customers can check for posted signs, visit septa.org, or call SEPTA Customer Service at 215-580-7800 for travel information.
Vehicular traffic will also be restricted in the work areas, except for Emergency vehicles & Trash pick-up. All side streets in the affected area will be closed to thru traffic. Local traffic is permitted up to the construction site. Posted traffic detours will be erected and maintained around the work area in progress.
The existing tracks were installed in the 1970s and are beyond their serviceable lifespan. The street structure supporting the tracks has deteriorated due to water leaks, traffic, and overall age of the existing street surface, which requires increased maintenance to operate safe and reliable service.
Benefits of the renewal project include reduced vibrations, smoother ride, new & improved track components, new street surface, and new concrete/asphalt paving.
