June 20, 2016

6/20/2016 - 6/26/2016

Published on June 20, 2016

This week we are talking about SEPTA’s Route 42, which travels between Upper Darby and West Philadelphia to Penn’s Landing. This Route was once a streetcar line that ran from 61st and Pine Streets to Front and Chestnut Streets via Spruce, Chestnut and Walnut Streets. Buses replaced streetcars on September 8, 1956, and in 1965 service extended to 2nd & Dock Streets in Society Hill. Service was re-routed several times, however the current route has been around since June 1996.
