Now that we've officially entered fall, we wanted to take some time to look ahead into the month of October and highlight some must-dos in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. Take a look below at some exciting events - and how to get there on SEPTA!
Halloween Nights at Eastern State Penitentiary
A bold new iteration of Eastern State’s famed Halloween celebration, Halloween Nights is a festival-style event made up of 15 attractions, including two haunted houses, which can be bypassed by those who want a less scary experience. Also on tap for this year: four immersive walkthrough experiences, two live performances, four themed bars and lounges, and special effects like laser shows and large-scale video projections. And don't forget - you get $3 off tickets when you flash your SETA Key card! Check it out from 9/24 thru 11/14. Get there on SEPTA. Bus Routes 49, 48, 43, 33, 32 & 7 all get you [terrifyingly] close.
Murder for Two at Bristol Riverside Theater
Head to Bristol Riverside Theater for one of the most uproarious musical comedies to hit the stage, the sidesplitting and zany Murder for Two. It’s a whodunit for two actors, one playing the detective, the other playing all thirteen suspects, and both of them taking turns accompanying each other at the piano. It’s Agatha Christie meets Vaudeville and you won’t want to miss it. Take SEPTA to the show! Hop the Trenton Line to Bristol Station. Get 20% off your tickets with this Perk!
The Count's Halloween Spooktacular at Sesame Place
Silly (not spooky) fun is the order of the day at the only theme park in the nation based entirely on the long-running children’s television show. Guests are encouraged to dress in costume to trick or treat around the park, enjoy Halloween-themed shows and partake in a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt, pumpkin decorating and more. On select dates between now and 11/7, the park hosts a Not-Too-Spooky Halloween Drive-Thru, complete with music, lights, treats and character appearances. Get there on SEPTA! Hop the Route 127 or Route 14 to get there!
Franklin Frights Weekends at The Franklin Institute
Trick or treating in a museum? That’s exactly what visitors to Philadelphia’s iconic science museum can do every weekend in October at The Franklin Institute. Three new Halloween-inspired science shows round out the month’s spooky offerings. Costumed performers host That’s Gross, Dr. Franklinstein’s Pumpkin Lab and Pondering Plasma. Get there on SEPTA. Short walk from Suburban, 15th, City Hall and 19th Street Stations. Or hop Routes 7, 33, 38, or 48.
Spooky Mini Golf at Franklin Square
This Old City park’s popular Philly Mini Golf transforms into spooky fun for the season with fog, lights, music and surprises, all available nightly from October 1 to 31. Plus, in between Franklin Square Fountain shows (which run every 30 minutes), the fountain is colored to complement fall. Get there on SEPTA: it's a short walk from 5th Street/Independence Hall on the Market-Frankford Line!
So this fall - grab your jacket [and your SEPTA Key!] and explore what Philadelphia has to offer.
