New Year's Holiday Service Information

The party of the year is fast approaching as is the parade of the year!!

The SugarHouse New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront features two major pyrotechnics displays over the Delaware River — one at 6p and another at midnight. Whatever you do - don't get caught in traffic or stuck looking for parking! Hop the Market-Frankford Line to 2nd Street or Bus Routes 9, 12, 17, 21, 25, 33, 40, 42 or 57.

Here are a few tips to get you started on New Year's Eve:

On New Year's Eve, Regional Rail Trains will operate on a regular WEEKDAY schedule with special late night service. The late night New Year's Eve schedule includes added service to Chestnut Hill East, Fox Chase, Elwyn, Lansdale, Malvern, Trenton (connections to NJ Transit-New York), Norristown, and Warminster. Please look for signage posted at stations or download this PDF for the late night schedule.

The Broad Street and Market Frankford Line trains will operate on a regular WEEKDAY schedule. Addition trains will operate before and after the New Year's Eve fireworks at Penn's Landing, with all night train service available to customers. Buses and Trolleys will run on a on a regular WEEKDAY schedule. But, please note, in preparation for the Mummers Parade on Tuesday, the following Bus Routes will be detoured on Monday from 12p - 8p on 15th Street between JFK Boulevard and Chestnut Street: 4, 16, 17, 27, 31, 32, 33, 44, 48, 124, and 125. Please refer to System Status for updated detour information.

On New Year's Day, the Mummers Parade is the place to be! This only-in-Philadelphia New Year’s Day tradition dates back to 1901 and today includes thousands of men, women and children wearing feathers and sequins while dancing to music and parading along Broad Street from Philadelphia City Hall to Washington Avenue. Couple of quick tips while travelling on New Year's Day:

On New Year's Day, Buses, Trains, and Trolleys will operate on a SUNDAY schedule. Due to the Mummers Parade, the following SEPTA Bus routes will operate on a temporary detour: 2, 4, 9, 12, 16, 17, 21, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 38, 40, 42, 44, 45, 48, 57, 59, 64, 124, and 125.

Ticket offices at Jefferson, Suburban and 30th Street Stations will be open from 7a-10p. In the burbs, Bryn Mawr, Cornwells Heights, Fox Chase, Glenside, Jenkintown-Wyncote, Lansdale, Marcus Hook, Media, Norristown, Paoli, and Warminster Station ticket offices will be open 7a-2p.

On New Year's Day, Buses, Trains, and Trolleys will operate on a SUNDAY schedule. Due to the Mummers Parade, the following SEPTA Bus routes will operate on a temporary detour: 2, 4, 9, 12, 16, 17, 21, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 38, 40, 42, 44, 45, 48, 57, 59, 64, 124, and 125.

Detours will begin as early as 3a on certain Routes. Check System Status for specific service information. Please consider taking the Broad Street Line as an alternative.
