In honor of National Dog Day [August 26] we sat down with everyone's favorite transit mascot to find out more about this huggable hound!
Job location: I love to hang with my teammates in System Safety but I’ll go anywhere I can to help raise safety awareness to our employees, customers, and youngsters throughout the region.
How long have you been at SEPTA? I’ve been part of the System Safety team since 1999. Not sure what that is in dog years.
Favorite part of your job? Helping promote safety so that all the humans can go home safely each day to see their family and their pets. I also love all the smiling faces on those humans.
What are you most proud of as an employee at SEPTA? For over 20 years I have helped make SEPTA a safe place to ride. I love to visit the children at schools and events to help teach them how to be safe on the system. I also look forward to Fire Safety Week in October when I can see my friend Gentry from the Philadelphia Fire Department. For 22 years we have made a great team keeping our city safe. And meeting Wally the Goose at the Wawa Station ribbon cutting. He's also big on helping the community!
Who is your biggest inspiration? Clifford, Lassie, and Balto - in no particular order. But I am really inspired by all the great SEPTA employees who keep this region moving and make SEPTA one of the safest transit systems in the country.
Best Philly Cheesesteak? I used to say any Cheesesteak is a good cheesesteak - but now I've got to say Wawa has one of my favorite cheesesteaks!
We wish all of the dogs out there a very happy National Dog Day!
