The Eagles 2017 Home Opener is Sunday, 9/24. Kick-off is set for 1p against our neighbor to the north - the New York Giants. And like you - we can't wait to see Carson Wentz and the rest of the Eagles squad strut their stuff down Lincoln Financial Field!
For the 5th season in a row, the Original Light Beer is providing safe and free rides to Eagles fans on game day. In partnership with SEPTA and Muller Inc., Miller Lite will give away free rides to and from Lincoln Financial Field on the Broad Street Line for the Eagles home opener.
“As a company, MillerCoors believes that drunk driving is preventable and is committed to making sure football fans in the Philadelphia community can enjoy Miller Lite and game day responsibly,” said Diane Wager, alcohol responsibility manager for MillerCoors. “Through continued partnerships with SEPTA and Muller Inc., the Free Rides program lets fans enjoy games while providing a safe and free transportation alternative.”
Fans traveling to the Eagles home opener against the Giants can access Free Rides on Sunday, 9/24 from 9a to 9p. To accommodate fans headed to the game, SEPTA will supplement regularly scheduled local train service with 10 extra Sports Express trips (see map below for stops). But here's the kicker - to ride free, your destination doesn't have to be Lincoln Financial Field. Miller Lite is picking up fares all along the Broad Street Line - it doesn't matter where you're going. This is a great opportunity to venture out on what hopefully will be a nice day. And lucky for you - there's a lot happening around town this Sunday.
If you are heading down to the stadium, hop the Broad Street Line south to AT&T Station (last stop).
SEPTA's Broad Street Line drops you steps from Lincoln Financial Field. Trains run every 8 to 10 minutes. It takes about 11 minutes to travel from City Hall to AT&T Station on a local train. Immediately following the end of the game, fans can find northbound trains waiting to provide local and express service back towards Center City and Fern Rock Transportation Center. All Regional Rail Lines, the Market-Frankford Line, PATCO and many trolley and bus routes provide convenient connections with the Broad Street Line.
“For the fifth year in a row, we are pleased to partner with Miller Lite and SEPTA on a program that delivers safe, free and convenient transportation to the home opener,” said Don Smolenski, Philadelphia Eagles President. “With thousands of Eagles fans taking the Broad Street Line to Lincoln Financial Field, the Free Rides program will be a nice way for them to appreciate the benefits of SEPTA and enjoy the game day experience on Sunday, September 24.”
“We’re always excited when we can partner with Miller Lite and kick-off the start of the football season with free-rides on our Broad Street Line, ensuring that our fans enjoy game day responsibly,” said Jeff Knueppel, SEPTA General Manager.
“We’re proud to be partnering with Miller Lite and SEPTA to bring Free Rides back to Philadelphia for the Eagles home opener,” said Sandra Muller, Muller, Inc. President. “We hope people will make a plan and let the Free Rides program be their designated driver on game day to keep our roadways safe.”
As part of the 2025 Global Goals MillerCoors developed in partnership with Molson Coors, we aim to implement impactful programs to prevent drunk driving in every market where we sell beer. Designated driver and safe ride programs like Miller Lite Free Rides are critical components of meeting that goal. Since the Free Rides program’s inception 29 years ago, safe rides have been provided to more than five million people in 26 cities. During the 2016-2017 regular season, Miller Lite provided more than 60,000 free rides. The program has earned the full support of state and local law enforcement and is part of MillerCoors overall commitment to preventing drunk driving.
Throughout the 2017 professional football season, Miller Lite Free Rides will also be offered in Atlanta, Cincinnati and Nashville. For more information, visit www.MillerLiteFreeRides.com.
