Hello SEPTAdventurers!
It has finally started to feel like fall outside over the weekend. The temperature has dropped, leaves are being whipped through the streets, and snow has even begun to fall! To get in the spirit of the holidays, we traveled to Franklin Square (accessible via Broad Street Line, Market Frankford Line, Bus, and Regional Rail!) for their Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show. The light show goes on every 30 minutes starting at 4:30pm until 8:00pm (or 9:00pm on Fridays and weekends) every. single. day. until December 31st. We are talking about a lot of light shows, folks! The square is also home to a beer garden for our friends over 21 as well as a sweets shop which makes the best smelling (and tasting) fudge on site. There is a seating area with fire pits that are available for light-show partakers of any age! We drank hot chocolate sitting next to a roaring fire—who knew that you could feel so cozy in the middle of Philadelphia? This is a really niceplace to meet up with friends this holiday season. There is plenty of sweets, drinks, food, and entertainment for an after class or work gathering, or for a fun way to kick off the weekend!
Franklin Square is also just a few blocks from Chinatown, a vibrant section of the city that everyone must visit. We made our way over for some rolled ice cream at Ice Land, because there’s never a wrong time for ice cream (no matter what the temperature). Chinatown is also a great place to grab food if seating around the fire pits are taken and your fingers are starting to freeze! My favorite restaurant is Rangoon if you’re looking a new place to tr!
Thanks for reading and happy SEPTAdventuring!
