SEPTA will hold open house sessions on Wednesday, 2/15 to begin a discussion with riders, stakeholders and the public regarding the Fiscal Year 2018 Annual Service Plan. The open house sessions will be held from noon-1:30p and 5-6:30p in the Board Room at SEPTA Headquarters, 1234 Market Street, Philadelphia.
Proposals include new service and changes to some existing routes, with the aim of enhancing customer service and improving overall efficiency. New service would be contingent upon adequate funding being available. Highlights of the proposals include:
♦ Proposed Route 49: Establish a new north-south bus route, which would operate from Brewerytown and Fairmount to Grays Ferry via University City. It would provide an important connection from nearby neighborhoods to the growing employment base and health resources located in University City. Additionally, the proposed routing would create a direct transit option between 30th Street Station and the attractions located along the Ben Franklin Parkway.
♦ Route 88: Extend all trips ending at Holme Avenue and Pennypack Street to Frankford and Linden Avenues, at the Gregg Street Bus Loop. This would create a new connection with the Route 66.
♦ Route 132: This proposal would provide transit to a retail and health service corridor in Hilltown Township. As part of the project, SEPTA would work with local and state officials in an effort to improve access from the new routing to the adjacent businesses.
♦ Enhanced Bus Service Along Roosevelt Boulevard: New limited-stop service along Roosevelt Boulevard with some elements of Bus Rapid Transit. Buses would operate from Frankford Transportation Center to Neshaminy Mall, making only eight stops in each direction.
♦ Norristown to Phoenixville Corridor: Provides options to streamline service and reduce travel time between the Norristown Transportation Center and points west, including King of Prussia, Audubon, Oaks and Phoenixville. Attention will also be given to local service in the immediate Norristown area. This project will carry forward to the FY 2019 Annual Service Plan.
