Free Fitness in Philly!

With summer in full swing, the days are longer and the sun in shining. There's no excuse not to get out and get active! Best part? You don't need a gym membership to get fit! (But if you do want a gym membership, we have a Perk for that!) We've highlighted five of the best FREE ways to get active this summer in Philadelphia. Whether it's a mind or body workout, low-impact or cardio, there's something for everybody. Check out our list and see what's best for you!

1. Center City Fit - Dilworth Park

Rothman Orthopaedics Presents Center City Fit is in Dilworth Park now thru 10/15! Enjoy fun, free fitness programs led by top-notch trainers from Optimal Sport Health Clubs 1315 Walnut. On Mondays from 6p-7p check out Zumba® and on Tuesdays from 6p-7p there's Boot Camp thru 7/23 and cardio kickboxing 7/30 thru 10/15. It's so easy to get here on SEPTA. Hop the Market-Frankford Line or Trolley Routes 10, 11, 13, 34 & 36 to 15th Street, the Broad Street Line to City Hall, Bus Routes 2, 17, 33, 38, 44, 48, 124 or 125 or Regional Rail to Suburban Station.

2. Yoga - Race Street Pier

One of Philadelphia’s favorite free workout series - Free Yoga on Race Street Pier - organized by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation and coordinated by yoga instructor Malik Wilson, offers nearly 300 free yoga classes thru 11/12. Every single day of the week (weather permitting), the yoga class takes to the waterfront for fresh air (and free!) fun for yogis of all levels. Classes run Monday-Thursday 7a & 6p; Friday 7a; Saturday-Sunday 9:30a. So easy to get here on SEPTA. Hop the Market-Frankford Line to 2nd Street or Bus Routes 17, 21, 25, 33, or 42. 

3. Philadelphia Runner Running Club - Schuylkill Banks

Free beer, race entry discounts, prizes. You never know what you’ll get at this weekly club! Run 3–5 miles through Center City and along one of the nation’s best urban running trails—the Schuylkill River Trail—every Thursday night at Philadelphia Runner’s Center City store. Group runs also offered at their Manayunk, Glen Mills, and University City locations. To get to the Center City location on SEPTA, take the Market-Frankford Line or Trolley to 15th Street, the Broad Street Line to City Hall, or Bus Routes 2, 9, 12, 21, or 42. 4. Yoga - Philadelphia Museum of Art

June through September, the Philadelphia Museum of Art offers free yoga on Wednesday evenings in the beautiful Anne d’Harnoncourt Sculpture Garden! To get there on SEPTA, take Bus Routes 7, 32, 38, 43, 48 & or 49.

5. We Walk PHL - Various Parks

We Walk PHL is a free walking group that meets several times per week at various public parks. Launched as a pilot program in 2017, We Walk PHL is a partnership between Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philly Powered, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation.
