Fire Prevention Week 2022

October 5, 2022

For the 23rd consecutive year, SEPTA and the Philadelphia Fire Department will be observing Fire Prevention Week (10/9/22 - 10/15/22) by installing car cards in 2,000 SEPTA vehicles!

This year's campaign theme is “Fire won't wait. Plan your escape™” with the goal of educating everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.

The cards were unveiled today by SEPTA's Acting Assistant General Manager, System Safety Ed Able and Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel. And they weren't the only special guests - Paws and the Philadelphia Fire Department's mascot Gentry were there as well!

The event was held at Engine 8 Station, 4th & Arch in Philadelphia. That station dates its history back to Benjamin Franklin.

And remember - if you don't own a smoke detector and you can't afford one - call 311. The Philadelphia Fire Department will come to your house to install it FREE of charge.
