As the school year winds down and we get ready to experience summer heat waves - our region is also experiencing a sixth wave of COVID, with cases on the rise. COVID is still an unfortunate reality in our lives - and it is important to stay vigilant to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your community safe.
Some helpful reminders:
Get vaccinated. Everyone age 5 and older is eligible for a free COVID vaccine. Vaccines have proven extremely effective, lowering the severity of illness and hospitalization.
Get boosted. Everyone 12 and older is eligible for a COVID booster once it has been five months since completing their full vaccination (either one shot of the Johnson and Johnson, or two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine).
Check if you are eligible for a second booster. Anyone age 50 and older, or who is immunocompromised, is eligible for a second booster shot six months after their first booster shot.
Masking is recommended. Though masking is not required, we know that masks help protect us and others from the virus. Consider masking when in public and when in large crowds.
Stay safe and enjoy the unofficial start to summer!
