Mural Arts' same day work and pay program Color Me Back (CMB) and artist Lauren Cat West teamed up to create holiday installations for Suburban Station.
The Color Me Back program combines participatory art making, access to social services, and daily pay in a unique model offering individuals the opportunity to connect, contribute, and earn wages.
Each installation incorporates Take & Make Snowflakes created by SEPTA employees and CMB participants as well as large scale ornaments created by West and participants of CMB.
All items were made from painted recycled materials from the CMB program. The items were assembled into kits by CMB participants and made possible by the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbilities Services, the City of Phladelphia, SEPTA, AthenianRazak, the Sheller Family Foundation, and many others.
Installations can be seen throughout Suburban Station between 15th Street & 17th Street and will remain up now thru January 4, 2021.
These installations make for a great photo op. Please feel free to stand next to, in-front of, or behind any of the installations to take the best photo you can. Then using your best hashtags post your photo to social media and feel free to tag #ISEPTAPHILLY! We'll do our best to share your post.
