Since their 1995 debut A Typical and Autoctonal Venezuelan Dance Band – the Venezuelan band has amassed critical acclaim throughout the world for their mixture of Rock, Disco, Jazz, and Funk with Latin Dance music. Los Amigos Invisibles’ diverse catalog includes albums Arepa 3000: A Venezuelan Journey into Space, The Venezuelan Zinga Son, Vol. 1, Commercial, and the single “Tócamela.” All together – the group has received two Latin Grammy awards, and five U.S. Grammy nominations.
Los Amigos Invisibles ended their five-year hiatus this past August with the project Cool Love. The group maintains their versatility on the 17-track effort, incorporating elements of Disco, Rock, Funk, House, Reggaetón, and Salsainto their lively instrumentalism.
Tracks like “Kaniambo” showcase their wide spectrum of genres. The reimaginations of these different styles are done lightheartedly, emphasizing the band’s mantra of bringing a party to any bar, venue, or stadium.
The three remaining members of the original band — Julio Briceño, José Rafael Torres, and Juan Manuel — were joined by over 70 different collaborators for Cool Love, who are all displayed on the colorful album cover done by Venezuelan cartoonist Hermann Mejía.
Notable features include Betsayda Machado, El Pollo Brito, SuperThriller, C-Funk, Ferraz, and Álvaro Paiva-Bimbo. The collaborative nature of the project reflects the attitude Los Amigos Invisibles maintained throughout their career – connecting with artists in their native country and throughout the Latin American music community.
Although the band’s musical capabilities have been universally acknowledged – Los Amigos Invisibles may be best known for their live performances.
They’ve toured in 60 different countries – playing at marquee venues throughout the world. The high-energy and audience-centered essence of their performances sets the band further apart from other groups. During an interview with La Musica en VIVO – frontman Briceño explained the emphasis they’ve put on live performances throughout their career.
“For us the live show was very important. More than the record,” he said – noting they give 110% on stage for every show.
Concertgoers should expect an in-depth display of the band’s extensive discography – playing songs from their new album – alongside fan favorites from their decades-worth of releases. They’ll also be joined by Philadelphia Electrosoul saxophonist and vocalist Max Swain. The night of genre-bridging music will take place at the legendary 23 East Lancaster Ave. location, currently known as Ardmore Music Hall – which has a deep history of concerts spanning over 40 years.
Doors open for seated tickets at 6:45PM and General Admissions tickets at 7:15PM. The show begins at 8PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Ardmore Music Hall Box Office or their website ($25 - $49).
