Over the course of the week, SEPTA has been working to lease additional train cars, from other agencies, to help alleviate the shortage created by the removal of the Silverliner V fleet from Regional Rail service. Updated schedules are being finalized and will go into effect, beginning with the start of service on Monday, July 11, 2016. The updated Interim Weekday Schedules will be posted online on Sunday, July 10th.
Here's what you can look forward to:
Trenton Line: 300 additional seats
West Trenton Line: Additional service between Glenside and Center City
Warminster Line: Additional service between Glenside and Center City
Paoli/Thorndale Line: Three additional Bryn Mawr local trains to Philadelphia and reverse trains
Lansdale/Doylestown: Earlier first train out of Doylestown and additional service between Center City and Glenside
How are we going to make this happen? Beginning Monday, July 11, look for leased equipment from Amtrak, New Jersey Transit (NJT) and Maryland Area Regional Commuter Rail Service (MARC) on the SEPTA System. Amtrak is sending two locomotives and five passenger cars, NJT is sending one locomotive and eight passenger cars and MARC is sending five passenger cars. All together, we're looking forward to receiving three additional trainsets with roughly 1,700 total seats! Look for these leased vehicles on the Trenton, Paoli/Thorndale and Wilmington Lines. We expect to see lots of pictures on social media - don't forget to use #ISEPTAPHILLY!
One final note, Regional Rail will run our regular, normal Saturday and Sunday schedules.
And one final thought, thank you for your patience during this unprecedented event. Safety will continue to be SEPTA’s highest priority and we appreciate your continued support. Thank you for riding SEPTA!
