Thanks Operator!

SEPTA Operators, Engineers and Conductors don’t have an easy job. For hours on end, these men and women work to keep a schedule, check fares, give directions, announce stops, assist passengers and more. All while safely maneuvering an extra-large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, detours, tough weather conditions and some really tight spaces. In honor of Transit Driver Appreciation Day on March 22, our latest contest offered you the chance to share your words of appreciation. Check out some of favorites below!

Chaya: Thank you for always saying good morning, even if its 7:00 A.M., and most people look like they’d rather be in bed.

Thalisha: I love SEPTA... the Trolleys, the Regional Rail... awesome customer service with a lot of politeness. I catch both every morning. Keep up the good work SEPTA drivers and conductors.

Brandon: I want to say thank you to all the operators of SEPTA for getting us to where we have to go on time and safety every day.   I want to specifically say thank you to Robin who operates bus 128.  I used to take her bus every morning when I worked at Neshaminy Mall.  She is a very nice bus driver.  When I use to take her bus I always got to work on time.  I like the way she have conversations with her passengers also.  Out of all SEPTA drivers i have to say she is the best one that i had.  So thanks again robin.  You are much appreciated!

Wesley: I found that all bus drivers are caring and courteous and patient as I get on a bus. They all wait for me to take a seat before leaving the stop.

Omar: First I would like to say thank you. Thank you for serving the community, your city. Everyone wakes up early in the morning, leaving their families behind coming to work to create a bright future for yourself, for your kids, for your family. Taking the 32, I’ve seen all types of bus drivers, smiling and saying good morning to every passenger. Working when it’s 5 degrees outside, when blizzard conditions are in the forecast and even on holiday. You make this city special; you get your passengers to their destination safely. Many passengers don’t realize the dedication and hard work you put in, but others do. I’m one of them. I wanted to thank you again. For making me feel safe, for smiling and making my day at my worst points in life.

Michael: I would like to show my appreciation to new bus operator, Shirley Spencer! Shirley is a great driver who is honest and does her work impeccably, with always keeping best practices in mind. Shirley sets an example of producing quality work that I would like to emulate. Thanks for all you do, Shirley!

Sean: Thanks to all the operators and conductors on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line! A long route everyday, but the staff does their best to keep things moving on time and always with a “Good Morning!”

Jennyfer: I am appreciative for SEPTA conductors and transit drivers for many reasons. They allow me to go places whenever I want. They safely get me to Temple University or City Hall. There's not a day that I don't feel safe riding a bus or the train. They safely and rapidly got me to the hospital when my sister got admitted. They safely get me to the grocery store or even to the doctors whenever I need to go. SEPTA conductors are what keep the city and the city people moving. Without SEPTA Philly wouldn't be the city it is today. Without the men and women working such hours and so hard, Philly wouldn't be the amazing city it is today. I am appreciative of SEPTA conductors because they allow me to live life peacefully in the city.

Chenise: I was always taught to speak to people in passing. So as a daily SEPTA rider, I’m always speaking to the drivers. Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening, you know depending on the time of day. I’ve had a few drivers crack a smile and say I was sometimes the only person that greeted them. Once my ride is complete I always end it with Thank you and have a good day. I think that’s beyond important to let your driver know they are appreciated. Its tough working with the public so let these great SEPTA Drivers how great of a job they are doing!!

Nicole: Thanks for getting us to where we need to be safely has possible.

Owen: Thank you all for everything you do. Conductors and Assistant Conductors are under appreciated. So many people think all they do is collect fares, but they do so much more. They have to do that, plus making sure that all the right doors open and none of the wrong ones do, making sure the brakes work and are set right, all while keeping all passengers as safe as possible. Locomotive engineers and trolley, sub/el, and bus operators also do way more than people think. They have to know about every single part and operation of their very large vehicle. Any time there's a problem, they're always very proactive and make sure whatever needs to be done is done, all while keeping their passengers completely safe, including having to make the tough decision sometimes to evacuate to another vehicle. All of these men and women are such knowledgeable, hard-working people and should be appreciated way more than so many members of the public do. Safety is everything and I personally always feel so safe on SEPTA's services because I know only the best of the best are keeping me safe, while still getting me to my destination as fast as they can, and for that, I commend all of you.

Charity: I love riding SEPTA. The bus operators are really nice and when I get lost they will direct me on which bus I have to take or even transfer. I have been riding with SEPTA ever since I was in middle school til now

Margot: Thank you to the hard-working transit operators, engineers and conductors at SEPTA! I am a senior at Temple University graduating this May. I have been dependent on SEPTA transportation throughout my entire undergraduate career to safely get to jobs/internships/explore the beautiful city of Philadelphia. Being one who is absolutely terrible with directions, I am the customer who frantically runs up to you begging for help to get to my destination. I appreciate your ability to kindly direct me no matter how silly my questions are: Does this train take me to Trenton Transit Center? "Yes ma'am, this is the Trenton Line." Thank you for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of SEPTA locomotives! All of you are appreciated more than you know! "

Connie: I recently took a trip on SEPTA regional rail... the experience was made more pleasant by our helpful, friendly conductor. It was a positive interaction and a smooth ride.

Jake: Thank you to all the SEPTA workers. Thank you to the conductors who make sure I don’t fall down the stairs and thank you to the master control operators who make sure that Acela isn’t on the wrong track.

Salem: Thank you SEPTA workers for keeping us informed and safe.

Chris: I would like to say thank you to all the operators who serve all of SEPTA’s districts everyday of the week, especially in the toughest storms and conditions. You do us proud to serve the system and the city of Philadelphia & other surrounding counties.

Frances: I just like to say Thank You to everyone at the 69th Street Terminal for the great work they continue to do day in and out.

Diane: i would truly like to thank SEPTA for what they are doing.  The drivers go above and beyond their duty each and everyday.  I live in New Jersey but i am over Philly often. I use SEPTA; they tell me where i need to get off, and where I need to walk to get to and from my destinations.  They are very polite and most of all they seem to have a lot of patience when it comes to the seniors getting on. most of the times they have obstacles in their way such as, a person crossing the streets on crutches, in wheelchairs, or someone who does not know that the light is green for the bus to go, i  have seen them stop the bus regardless. so i solute the SEPTA drivers for all that they have done, and are still continuing to do, that job is not an easy job, it requires patience, be a people person, with lots of compassion. I salute you all.

Zaida: Hello, I've been taking the Norristown regional rail since Oct. 2006. I begin my journey from the East Falls station to Norristown T.C. Thank God I always have a good commute, once in a while my train can be delayed, but i can understand it's rush hour.  The operator has control of the train, no sudden stops or any speeding.  With so much going on in the world, I'm glad my commute is a tranquil event, thank you to all the operators of the rails; I understand you have a lot of people's safety in your hands.

Val: Thanks for working when the rest of us have snow days!!

Hashanie: I would like to thank Driver Brown. She used to drive block 5504 on the number 54 bus. She was always on time and friendly!

Ellen: I am always appreciative of the helpful Regional Rail employees.  Today this was especially true with the weather.  On my trip into the city (Chestnut Hill East 8:03AM) there was one employee who walked up and down the train to make sure we knew about the weather event happening She said she'd know the answer or know who to ask in order to get the answer.  This was very reassuring given the uncertainty of the weather for the rest of the day.  Thanks for all the employees who are this helpful!

Zack: The thing that has stuck with me the most is all the bus drivers on Route 94, there are a lot of elderly people who take that bus and the drivers go out of their way to get out of their seats and make sure the elderly people are seated and situated comfortably.

Miriam: I just want to thank all the workers from the Frankford depot. They provide excellent service to everyone. Not only from the drivers, but to the booth workers, and maintenance they always do their job. I do believe Frankford has some phenomenal people working for them. Thank you for all the great service you guys provide.

James: I cannot begin to express my enjoyment with my SEPTA transit drivers! They are always polite and courteous, help me down from the train when I need it and get me from point A. to B. in a timely fashion. Thank you to all of you, for without your help I don't know what I would do.

Robert: Almieda P is her name. My favorite conductor of all time who just happens to be on RR / #9230 / Newark to CC. Anyone who has been blessed enough to be in her presence knows that she emits an extraordinary amount of energy and sunshine. Outside of SEPTA, we are just two strangers but on the train she feels like family. If I’m on the #9230, chances are I’m extremely late for work and probably not in the best of spirits... but when I get to see Almedia hop off the train with her infectious smile, welcoming passengers to the rail car and then we have our little chat while she validates my trailpass... it just make the journey all worth it. Almieda, thank you for your service, your smile, your professional demeanor, and your hospitality. It’s conductors like you that make SEPTA a best in class transportation system. Thank you for all that you do!

Denise: I use a blind cane. This was the coldest day of the year I was down around Aramingo. A 15 bus driver allowed me to sit on the bus until the 43 bus arrived because they are under construction. Thank SEPTA driver for your courtesy and concern

Thomas: First I am fortunate to have the SEPTA Social on twitter for their attention can be almost immediate. Many nice conductors. I must thank the overall system for getting me to/from work and appointments as scheduled.

Ebony: Mr. Calvin who drives the 6:03pm L bus is the kindest bus driver i have ever met. He’s super nice to my 18 month old son who enjoys waving to him as he pulls up to our stop on old York road and always tells us to get home safe at the end of our journey home. I wish Mr. Calvin all the best. Thanks SEPTA.

Stephanie: I always make sure to thank the SEPTA driver or train conductors.  I truly appreciate their hard work in providing service to SEPTA.  I just recently had assistance from a SEPTA employee in helping me with the Key machine.  I was truly grateful and appreciate that they helped me.

Valencia: I just want to say thank you to all the bus drivers that put up with all the attitudes and crazy people that get on the buses all the time. Even though people irritate, irk, harass and push your buttons, you guys keep your cool and rise above the situation. I commend and applaud you all.

Sharon: I greatly appreciate all the conductors but have a special place in my heart for those who look out the window during the busiest times to make sure the elderly and disabled get on safely before closing the doors!

Binh: My appreciation goes out to the transit operator that used to work at 69th street terminal (I believe her name is Jacquelin)! I would see her almost every morning at 7:20 and it would brighten up my morning before my commute to Temple University for undergrad. Some days we would just wish each other a good morning, but some days, we would ask about each other's weekend or how we spent our holidays. I remember telling her about applying for dental school and how stressed out/scared I would be but she would always wish me luck and reaffirm that I will be okay. I'm currently a second-year dental school student at Temple Dental and although I don't see Jacquelin anymore, it's the small things like her smile that I really make me miss seeing a familiar face every morning!

Marina: Trolley operator Mike brings me so much joy. Not everyone gets what he's about, but I feel like I've won a prize every time I realize he's my operator. Sometimes I know it's him, but often times I board at the rear of the trolley at 15th or 30th. As soon as I hear how were "curving through the tunnel like an elbow through a sleeve" a smile spreads across my face.

Joanna: Thanks for all you do to keep us safe and get to our destinations on time

David: I am grateful to all of SEPTA's workers who are able to get me to eye doctor's appointments more than 4 times a year.

Jon: I’d like to say thank you to all the hard working operators at SEPTA. From the bus drivers, to the train drivers, to the customer service reps, all the way to the maintenance people and management. Sales clerks too! Keep up the great work. You ALL keep Southeastern Pennsylvania moving!

Robin: Thank you for driving the train that i ride every day back and forth to work every day for many years

Joe: I honestly couldn't make a living or make it to work without you guys and gals. Thank you so much for always being there to give me a ride.

Lonnie: I ride the train from Torresdale Station. The Conductor Glenn always has a smile for you. My wife has a TrailPass and l have to buy the One Day Pass. I can always count on Glenn to have change if the station office is closed and l can’t buy it before boarding. The others on the line are also a pleasure. I believe it's either the Trenton or West Trenton Line.

Veronica Dee: The SEPTA Operators do so much for the general public. They are the initial contact for many tourists that come to the city so they are ambassadors of hospitality. They provide information for transportation to and from many areas. They cater to the disabled for their transportation to and from destinations. They are part of a team that has put their lives out for the sake of others since they are often victims of major criminal attacks and unwarranted disputes. They often drive in harsh weather and have to survive route changes and detours where they must take the risk of using alternative routes. They have to make many decisions that normal people do not normally do. Most of them are lifesavers because of the traffic on the Schuylkill Expressway is a killer especially nighttime where there is no lights and there is always merging traffic. Most of them are quite polite too. They help the aged and many citizens can't wait for their monthly pass.

Catherine: I take the Frankford Terminal to and from work every day. Thanks to El operators for keeping me safe and getting me to work on time!

Julianne: Most of the conductors are very helpful and help you understand where you’re going if you don't know SEPTA very well. One conductor that was really nice was when I got on a train that didn't stop at the station I needed and they helped me figure out what station I needed to get off at to transfer.

Rita: I truly appreciate the operators who are reliable. Knowing that I can expect a regular commute time on a daily basis makes the times when weather, traffic or mechanical issues get in the way

Jennifer: I take the 8:45 CHW to Suburban a few days a week.  I travel a lot for work so I'm not always in town, but when I am I'm on this train.  I've usually had a crazy morning getting my kid ready for school and me ready for work. We walk to school picking up a few kids on the way so by the time I'm at the station I'm usually stressed.  The gentleman who takes the tickets in the last few cars of this train turns that around very quickly.  He is friendly, professional, efficient, funny, and communicative.  If the train has any delays he is quick to update everyone in the cars.  If something notable is going on (i.e. end of month pass change; weather interruptions; etc.) he is sure to let us know.  I never know if he is happy, sad, annoyed, frustrated, anything.  Nothing interrupts his job.  I am grateful for him.  SEPTA is lucky to have him. 

Timmara: I would like to give a special thanks to one bus driver, his name Is Wendell and he drives the 55 route and 23. Every time I encounter him on any bus he is pleasant towards all customers that enter the bus. No matter the issue it is always solved with him. He shows great communication skills and is always looking to make everyone smile.

Cathy: Drivers on the 59 bus are very polite and helpful.

Molly: I always appreciate the conductor on train 2509 from Norristown to Center City who greets everyone over the intercom when we pull into Jefferson/Suburban with "wake up! Time to start your day!" and wishes everyone a good day as they depart the train. His positive, glowing attitude never fails to make me smile and it really does start my day off on a good note. Thank you for all you do; it doesn't go unnoticed!

Twanda: Thank you for kind and gentle good mornings and have a nice day it means lot coming from a SEPTA driver that would take the time and care

Kurt: My family and I use SEPTA often. I use it on a daily basis to get my daughter to and from school. My fiancé uses SEPTA to get to and from work at the Linc. We take SEPTA all over the city and the suburbs and surrounding areas

Nathaniel: I just moved to the city last year, and rely on SEPTA to both explore the city, and to get me where I need to be. SEPTA operators have always been friendly and helpful, and make my daily commute a breeze.

Heman: I am very thankful to SEPTA team for commuting us daily on time to the office and back to home. It’s not just a commute, but some of the SEPTA team members also enjoy talking to us. They crack jokes and always keep a smile on their face.

Josh: Thanks to the crew of the Warminster Line those Guys and Gals get me to and from work every day safely.  I appreciate the smiling faces in the morning when I don’t want to go to work.

Carla: Thanks for the ride!

Attiah: The other day when I saw on the sub heading towards City Hall, the conductor was really nice thoughtful when he helped this young lady get directions.

Aitiyona: It would be very helpful if I won the April  Transpass. I would be able to make it back and forth to work, my daughters appointments, and get around with out worrying about people taking me or borrowing money. I appreciate all the help i can get! This would be a big blessing.

Adriana: I applaud you guys for all of your efforts through all of the Nor’easter storms in the month of March! You’re dedication impacts the lives of so many, and I truly appreciate it! Thank you! :)

Patricia: I can't remember his name but I just love seeing the conductor with the light up ties!  After a long day at work, it makes me laugh to see what creative tie he is wearing and it’s a great conversational piece!  Thank you Mr. Creative Cool Tie Conductor!  I've enjoyed your ties for over the last 10 years! 

Emily: The conductors on the Wilmington/Newark line always make sure we know why there’s a delay as soon as they know.

Travis: I appreciate the jobs the operators face on a daily basis. Especially during times when there are events happening in center city and inclement weather. Thank you for keeping us safe.

Jonathan: I am giving a special note of appreciation to Len from the Chestnut Hill East line for doing a fantastic job every evening on my ride home! He keeps us informed and entertained.

Susana: The operators on SEPTA's Route 107 bus never fail to put a smile on my face. Although I am unable to name any of them specifically, as a group, they are consistently professional, reliable and friendly. One weekday morning for example, I awaited the 107 to 69th Street Station with several other commuters. We were all getting a little irritated as we glanced at our watches, as for many of us, being a few minutes late would mean missing our connections and being late to work. The bus arrived about 8 minutes behind schedule, and as soon as the doors were open, the driver offered her apologies for being late, as it was her first day on that route. That acknowledgment meant a lot to me and the other passengers. As we continued on the route, I heard the driver offer her apologies over and over to the newly boarded passengers, just as warmly as when I first heard them. I know punctuality is an important part of the job, but I believe being kind and empathetic is no less essential. Thank you!

Gabrielle: Hakim is the best SEPTA sub operator ever!!!!! He’s also a great husband, father, brother, uncle and friend he also have a big smile on his face and is silly and knows how to cheer a person up. Thank you Mr. Gantz and SEPTA

César: I want to thank SEPTA, I have been in the United States for more than 12 years and I have never been able to acquire my own vehicle for economic reasons, and that is why I have always been transported on buses, trains and different transports of SEPTA, if not out for them I could never get to my work, home or different destinations. The drivers are always friendly and always help the one who needs it. Thank you so much SEPTA for always transporting me in the city.

Jill: Not too long ago I left my wallet on the train. I stood up to get off the train without realizing that I left my wallet behind in the seat. I don't know who it was but someone working on the train that night saved my wallet and all that was inside. I am forever grateful to that SEPTA worker and all of the honest men and women working to make my commute a safe one. Thank you!

Zyaira: Dear SEPTA engineers, conductors, & operators my name is Zyaira and I am very thankful for all the work you guys do. Getting to school & work is a struggle when you don’t have a car bit knowing that there are hundreds of workers going out of their way to make sure i can get to school, work etc... Safe makes me very happy and grateful. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. Peace & blessings.

Suzanne: Thank you for your patience with difficult passengers and bad traffic. I really appreciate it when you waited for me when I am not at the bus stop and see me running to catch the bus. You must have the patience of a saint to deal with everyday events. Most of all thank you for getting everyone safely to their destinations.

Samantha: I would like to thank all men and women for keeping the riders updated for the train schedules every month and year. Really appreciate everything you do to make me and other SEPTA riders be safe out in the community and in the weather. Thank you SEPTA conductors, transit operators and engineers.

Jacqueline: What can I say about SEPTA?! There's a lot to be thankful for in life, and as a Philly transplant, SEPTA is surely one of them. There have been many times when I found myself with dire car issues that left me stationary and then I remember that there's always a bus or train to help me get to my destination. Honestly, I'm just thankful SEPTA exists here because it's affordable, economical and just darn smart!

Antonique: Monday is rush day. Tuesday, is please no fuss day. Wednesdays, don't worry; we are half way there day. Thursday, should be everyone cares day. Friday is TGIF day. Saturday is slower, but hopefully a good day. Sunday is "Oh no" soon Monday but overall every day is your day! Every day you are working to make our lives easier and you definitely make it a better day. No matter what day it is, please enjoy and be safe.  

Reatha: WHAT IS PHILADELPHIA WITHOUT SEPTA? I speak for us all when i say  YOU ALL ARE VERY APPRECIATED

Joanna: I appreciate SEPTA Transit operators, engineers and conductors for the hard work they do daily by keeping riders safe every day. It's not easy multi-tasking while maintaining the safely of passengers. Thanks for making me feel safe when traveling to and from work. I ❤SEPTA!

Arlene: I am Acknowledging Jasmine Hill. She is a very energetic and a heart of gold. Raising Four young men alone besides getting up everyday to commit herself to the city. With her vibrant smile and glowing attitude you cannot miss this beat. She operates bus routes XH, 23, 16, etc. Get it Best friend

Roger: Thanks to all the operators and conductors that tried their best to make our journey safe, on time, and delightful! Thank you!

Cienthia: I’m glad that SEPTA has started an “appreciation day” for its employees! There are a lot of SEPTA workers who deserve to be placed on a pedestal for their dedication and hard work. I have to travel by SEPTA to take my daughter to school on a daily basis and have seen what SEPTA drivers encounter everyday. Dealing with the public, and all of the different personalities and attitudes I see that it’s very tough to maintain their professionalism but they still continue to do it. So I commend Septa and their employees for the hard work that they do and for the professionalism that they maintain along with the self-control they keep when working and dealing with the public. SEPTA..... I am glad that I’m a part of it. And by apart I mean..... Riding it every day. So I tip my hat and appreciate all of the SEPTA employees!!!

Geoffrey: I just want to thank my SEPTA rail operators for always looking out for the passengers and travelers when it feels like no one else is. When these terrible snow days hit during the work week and we're all forced to wait outside freezing and questioning if work is worth it today, I check my SEPTA app and see that the trains are still coming my way and I use that initiative as inspiration to make it through those trying days, especially knowing someone is still out there showing up for us that still have commutes to make and places to go when everyone else including Uber and Lyft drivers have called it in for the day. We all forget sometimes that SEPTA really can take us both near and far in the metropolitan area even on the days we can't anyone wanting to go out to far out places in Bucks County during a snowstorm, all while keeping passenger safety and welfare in mind. I've seen passengers give rail operators a hard time during delays and not only take it in stride when they aren't in control of whatever it is holding people up, but continue to do their jobs with pleasant attitudes, so salute to my SEPTA rail operators.

Sheryl: Everyday I'm Blessed to have the opportunity to ride and associate with the workers of SEPTA, who are kind and courteous, a lot of them lower the bus so I can get on especially when I have heavy bags, I appreciate it.

Candice: Thank you so much for all of your hard work! Everything you do is so very appreciated by all of us in Philly!

Michele: You should help people because you want to, not because you'll get extra credit. If you see someone who is lost, help him find his way. Today, a lot of people just walk away and only care for their own stuff. But it is really important to help one another! We can't do everything alone. I want to thank SEPTA for always helping me find my way.

Stephanie: To All SEPTA Staff, Happy Transit Driver Appreciation Day (which should really be every day)! Thank you so much for all that you do. Without you, there wouldn't be a Regional Rail and I would be stuck in traffic on 76 West every day. It's as bad as it sounds. Unfortunately, a lot of times your jobs go thankless and you are the first people blame or complain to. However, after taking the Regional Rail to work for the past 3+ years, I am well aware that the only thing you are trying to do is get everyone to their destination as safe and on time as possible. Sometimes the trains need to stop and it is for a reason. Thank you for always using your best judgment to get everyone where they need to be. Also, a special thank you to all conductors who make sure all passengers follow the rules of the quiet ride car–I love being able to read en route in silence every day.

Eva Marie: We were all going into the city one night on the 109 Bus into 69th Street to catch the El. Three women and three girls. One of the women, our Mom, was 78 and riding a scooter. We accidentally went down the wrong street and wound up a block down from the actual stop (we usually take the trolley, but the scooter can only take the bus, so we're not as familiar). I thought, that's it, we're going to be late, we missed the bus, but my niece put out her hand, not knowing that buses just don't stop and pick you up anywhere you want. But on this night, probably because he saw the scooter and realized my Mom was handicapped, he stopped for us and helped us get her secured and we were on our way. Great Service just takes compassion and empathy. Thank you SEPTA! And thank you Mr. Bus Driver!

Christina: Dear SEPTA Operators, Thank you for braving all types of weather, traffic, crowds, and unexpected events to ensure that I get safely to and from work each and every day.  As someone who does not drive, I do not take for granted your hard work and dedication, especially with such a grueling schedule as yours.  Because of you, my life is a little easier. Thanks for all you do for daily SEPTA passengers like me! Happy Transit Driver Appreciation Day!

Anthony: I just appreciate the fact that they help the homeless to get to certain places they need to go when they don't have no carfare of any sorts and that's what makes me smile the most because that's the most important thing for them they might be trying to get to a shelter are to a family member that can feed them are even to a job maybe even trying to work for SEPTA so that one ride can actually change someone’s life completely and that's what I appreciate

Ashley: I ride the 9 every day.  I don't recognize the drivers normally in the afternoon, but I always make sure to grab the 6:48 bus at Ridge & Lauriston in the morning.  I'm not sure of the driver's name, but he is always so patient and kind.  And if you are having a day, where you the passenger are running a little late, if he sees you coming (aka running ha!), he will always stop.  SEPTA has made my commute to and from work so easy and I can't thank you more for that.

George: If I could I would hug every employee just to let them know that they are appreciated. 

Prashant: The smile on the face of the operators is always inviting. Thanks for starting my day with a happy face :)

Jordan: It's been an incredibly rough few weeks weather-wise, and I wanted to thank the INCREDIBLY dedicated squad on one of the last inward trains from the Lansdale/Doylestown line on Friday, March 1st (scheduled to leave at 1:55ish). This team manned a train where two of the three cars had no power, the crowd was cold and rowdy, but they were patient and helpful, answering every question, offering creative suggestions for alternate routes, and calming the group. Thank you - you made a tough, exhausting, COLD day that much warmer.

Elisha: Thank you SEPTA drivers for helping the community get from one place to another in a safe fashion. Your hard work is appreciated even if some of the riders don't show it.

Christal: I would like to say thank you for your dedication to your position. You could easily go and work in another field, but you chose this one at this company. The City of Philadelphia needs people like you to continue to keep this city running and moving, even during Nor'easters and Bomb Cyclones. You guys are the best!

Emily: I would like to thank all of the people who work for SEPTA. There are times when you have to put up with a lot of crap, but you do it with stride. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Renee: Val on the WT 1st train into CC is so pleasant and professional all the time. Always says GOOD MORNING. ALWAYS gives us UPDATES when we are stuck in route.

Gail: Thank you for a nice safe ride everyday to work. You all are just great.

Michele: SEPTA's train operators, engineers, and conductors deserve the utmost respect. Without them the transit system would completely fall apart. We rely on them not only to keep the system running, but to also keep us safe. Whether we are seasoned travelers or new to the system they offer assistance to us to get us where we need to go. I am thankful for them every day and truly amazed at their level of professionalism.

Cassandra: I love riding the Regional Rail trains because I have never had a bad experience with any of the conductors on any of the trains that I have been on. just want to say to all the SEPTA Regional Rail workers on the Chestnut Hill East; THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS MAKING MY RIDE SMOOTH AND COMFORTING, I ENJOY RIDING THE TRAIN RATHER THAN THE BUS BUT AT TIMES ITS NECESSARY. Continue you wonderful service to sometimes the selflessness customers that are not as appreciative.

Ryan: Thank you for everything that you do operators! You all make the city move and bring radiance with the work that you do!

Felicia: To the thoughtful bus drivers who pick me up in the wee hours of the morning, to the train operators who open their doors after already closing them and getting me to work, to the informative window tellers who keep me in the loop, AND to the entire SEPTA team for getting me where I need to be on time, thank you .

Gordon: I would like to nominate Jenna (not sure of last name).  She used to drive the Route 45 bus before transferring.  She always greets my 2 kids (ages 3 and 8) whenever we board the bus with a high five and an enthusiastic greeting. She makes the normally long trip much more fun, as the kids get to see their “friendly bus driver.”   So I would like to nominate Jenna for being such a great representative for SEPTA.

Trina: Transit drivers: they keep us secure. Our timeliness they always ensure. Onward they come in a tunnel with lights. Through long days and longer nights... Show your appreciation -- say, "Bonjour!"

Danielle: Grateful daily for the conductors, drivers, all SEPTA staff and their hard work and no matter the weather, long routes some manage to still love what they do and smile back and say have a nice day back to you. For your endless routes, detours and chaos you deal with on a daily your hard work never goes unnoticed if it wasn’t for SEPTA I wouldn’t get to work on time.

Jennifer: I am a full time freshmen college student, I am paying for my tuition also always having to buy tokens or day passes to get to and school. I struggle and a day to day basic I would be more than happy to win a free monthly pass to get me to where I need to go especially my goals which is making my family proud and getting my college degree

William: I love taking SEPTA everyday everywhere i enjoy it

Mabel: I was already frustrated from the detours of the snow day a couple weeks ago. I was running late to work, a SEPTA employee just posted a detour sign on my stop, and I didn't know when the next bus would come as the app wasn't updating. But finally, after almost giving up, a 48 bus came. Upon stepping onto the bus, the driver was very apologetic and nice. Her kind demeanor made up for the fact that it was cold and I was late for work. Thank you.

Kia: Dear Conductors... Thank you for all the hard work you do every day. Thank you for getting all your passengers safely to where they need to go. They might not tell you everyday but I will Thank you for all you do. So be blessed and stay safe. Thank you.

Kelly: On the Chestnut Hill East train, a conductor spent time with a young boy who loved trains. This employee put such a smile on this kid’s face as he pointed out electrical stations and told him about new trains coming soon. It warmed my heart and gave me faith in humanity to see a man be so kind to a child who wanted to learn.

Marquita: SEPTA, thanks for being there.

Stephanie: Thank you so much for the long hours, short breaks, and tired eyes to get us where we need to be each day. Without you half of the Philadelphia region would be able to get decent jobs or their kids to school. You mean more than you know.

Cathy: There is a driver on the 59 route who is very polite and very conscientious.  He is very polite and very helpful. I like his swag.

Pamela: There is a bus driver who drives the J bus who is one of the most thoughtful persons you could ever want to meet. After my doctor’s appointment I can usually catch him on my way home. He will stop and wait for seniors as well as help them on the bus at times. He is always kind and understanding even when given a hard time by his riders. I appreciate his kindness and thoughtfulness... His bright smiling face always brightens and makes my day...

Thailand: I appreciate the hard work and dedication of all SEPTA subway and bus drivers and Regional Rail engineers in providing me good quality service on my daily commute to and from work or other places. With the current snowstorms that we have had these past few weeks, SEPTA has done a great job in preparing for and driving safely despite the recent weather conditions and providing information on any delays. I have been a SEPTA most of my life, and although there have been some situations where SEPTA has not been reliable, the transportation service has improved over the years, mainly because of the hard work, dedication, and customer service of SEPTA employees.

Annie: I had a meeting out in Bala Cynwyd one day so I took the Cynwyd line for the first time. The conductor came right up to me and said how I must be new to the line because he hasn’t seen me. He asked if I needed any help. I told him I was going for a meeting. He was so friendly and must always be so aware of his cars if he could tell I was not a regular. Right before I got off he wished me good luck for my meeting. It made my day!

Brooke: Thank you for your dedication to keeping riders safe! It takes flexibility, tact, and teamwork to manage so many riders on the go. I appreciate each and every SEPTA employee for running like a well-oiled machine. Your work does not go unnoticed! Keep up the good work!

Kathy: I'm grateful for the operators who diligently (and safely!) piloted their Route 18 and 26 buses during the very trying and challenging days of the 2 nor'easters our area experienced (so far!) during the month of March.  Personally, I'd rather have a different kind of March Madness out there but Mother Nature obviously had different ideas.

Brandon: I appreciate all of the SEPTA drivers who drive safe, interact with the passengers and always on time when I’m outside riding on the buses. Keep up the good work.

Monique: Just wanted to send a special thanks to my 36 trolley driver Russell. He’s always on time and always makes me smile when welcoming me aboard. I can tell he enjoys driving and getting his fellow Philadelphians to places they need to be in a professional and on time manner. He is a great driver and funny guy! I appreciate his experience!

Tyler: There are no equivalents to SEPTA operators. They are not only role models in our communities because of their genuine, hard-working nature, but also because of their dedication to a position that is in full-service to others. Dedicating one's life to public service is no easy task, but SEPTA operators do it with ease and professionalism. They are also dependable. We all live busy lives - busier now than ever before - and SEPTA operators ensure we spend the least amount of time necessary on public transportation. After all, they understand that there is so much more to get done in one day than to wait on, or for, a train, bus or trolley. And finally, SEPTA operators are life-savers. Literally and figuratively. They literally save lives with their safety awareness and problem resolution skills. They also figuratively save lives with their strict adherence to schedules and consistency. Without them, many of us would never have made it to that meeting on time, been present for that first date, or made it to that memorable event. In the end, SEPTA operators are the glue that holds this city together in bad weather, during busy events, and at life's craziest, most stressful moments.

Lana: I greatly appreciate all the SEPTA drivers but especially the ones that drive the 47 bus. I take the 47 everyday with my 2 year old and the drivers are always so patient and helpful, they make riding the crowded bus a little easier. I just want to thank all the drivers and tell them to keep up the good work! Not everyone shows it but they are greatly appreciated!

Christopher: What can I say which hasn't already been said by myself, as well as the innumerable masses whom take SEPTA on a daily weekly, monthly, or yearly basis!? Not to mention tourists, and/or first time transplants. SEPTA takes you places far beyond the reach of just the inner city depths. Whether I am taking the trolleys and busses in the city, or whether I am going to the suburbs via the NTHL or the Regional Rail, I tend to enjoy the ride thanks to the operators and conductors, so I just have to say thank you for 26 years of excellence. Safety to and from the various places I had resided in the city over the years is one of the reasons I can say thank you. Thanks!

Amanda: I would like to thank my bus drivers for always being on time, rain or shine, and being incredibly helpful every day. My driver on the 56 in the morning always greets me and everyone else, wishes us a good day, and just brightens up my day on the way to work - even when I am having a bad morning.

Jaquira: I wish I knew her name.  She is the El train operator that arrives at 15th street going westbound around 8:35am on the weekdays.  She is very pleasant and makes my ride in to work less stressful.  She reminds us to take our belongings; she keeps us updated on delays and ALWAYS wishes us a happy rest of the day.  Thank you unknown train operator.  Next time I will get your name! :)

Margaret: Klutzy me fell on my walk to the bus. My leg was bleeding when I got on the bus. The driver was very concerned and helpful.

Timothy: The snow was all piled high on Bustleton Pike . I have cerebral palsy so my mobility is limited. I wasn’t able to walk over a pile of snow so the driver dropped me off at a safe location.

Julee: Dear Optimistic Operators, Energetic Engineers, and Compassionate Conductors. Youse guys are the backbone of our dear Philadelphia! (Wit or) Witout youse how would all of us be able to get our Free Wawa coffee on National Coffee Day? Or how would all the tourists who travel far and wide be able to travel to all of our cities historical jawns? Or how would all our foodies be able to find the perfect Cheesesteak (Larry’s on Girard)? Or how would all our artists be able to explore the Art Museum on pay what you wish Wednesday? Or how would a commuting student be able to earn a college degree if they can’t get to class? Witout you we would all be hungry culture-less tea drinks, and that’s just not our Philly vibe. You support us with FREE rides when we need to come together to cheer on our Eagles, Phillies, or Flyers! You may have your days and we may push your buttons, but you’re only human, just like us. Your job holds so much weight, for witout you most of our jobs don’t happen. When you can’t do your job we can’t do ours. Sometimes that means we get a snow day but sometimes that means you are fighting for your jobs. We don’t always show our appreciation, but we do appreciate you. WE show it in our smiles, our friendly conversations, even in our good byes and thank youse. You bring our city as a community together and that is such a gift. You show us patience when it takes us a minute or two to find our passes in the bottom of our purse, you show us kindness when we need help making sure we are on the right train, you show us humility when we need a helping hand stepping down from a bus, you shoe us warmth when we have none, you show us self-expression when we perform on a subway platform or on a moving train(Shout out to the fearless hip-hopers) and you show us strength when we are afraid (like that one time a snake was found on a bus, am not nobody have time for a snake). Witout you our city simply wouldn’t be our city. You put aside your problems to help us wit ours. You work in rain or shine, snow and storm. Through traffic, accidents, detours, and breakdowns. You take care of us, entertain us (Trolley poet that’s you!), and show us spirit (Christmas subway car and Santa Express). You’ve taught us manners (Dude its rude...) and you’ve show us support (College Ads, Philabundance Food Drive), and you have even expanded our minds with new technology (SEPTA Key). You’ve allowed us to take in the true beauty of our city (Mural Arts Program).  Transit Driver Appreciation Day is only one day a year but I hope you know we appreciate you every day. Thank you, Night Owls, Students, Parents, Car-less Commuters, Sports Fans, Cheesesteakers, Museum Goers, Teachers, Artists, Senior Citizens, Disabled Riders, Locals, Tourists….. Love, All of us whose lives you enhance every day. Wit out you we wouldn’t be… Philly.

Gloria: I have been using SEPTA all my life. I have seen things good and bad on the trains, buses and trolleys that run thru our city and beyond. That smile does make a difference. If I can nominate one driver in particular I would select Kevin. He has been with SEPTA for years and I meet him on the 18 bus. He made my mornings. His sweet spirit and his smile made my day start off great. As I rode more and more with him I got to know him personally. He became my friend. I think he deserves recognition for his years of service, the love he has for his job and his passengers. I think SEPTA is a great organization and I am truly blessed to know some of the great people working for them and the service they provide to the city

Denise: I am a non-driving and deaf person who has never own a car. I   am an independent individual that loves to travel by myself. I have used all SEPTA's Transportation to all places as far as Pottstown, PA. I depend on SEPTA working to reach my destination around the city and outside the city. I will call customer service and they would give me the direction but it is the people on those vehicles that help me reach my destination. I want to thank all the employees for an excellent job done.

Catherine: The conductor on the Chestnut Hill East morning train is always such a ray of sunshine that brightens my mornings. He is cheery to everyone, does his job impeccably, and he's funny, too! It really makes the pain of the morning commute a little lighter and I'm so glad to encounter him when I'm on my way to work.

Raina: Every 365 days a year you travel thousands of miles, often in adverse weather conditions and through unpredictable traffic, to deliver our friends, family and coworkers safely to our destinations. Your dedication, hard work, and vigilance are instrumental to the safe and efficient home to work, school, or events and to the transportation of those who are most precious to us – the community entrusted to your care. Thank you for so generously sharing the spirit of your profession in a manner that touches the lives of so many. I truly appreciate SEPTA with their ongoing efforts on helping myself, and my family gets to where we need to be.

Kevin: Whether I’m on the bus or riding alongside it on my bike in traffic, I always feel safe around SEPTA bus drivers! They are honestly the only drivers on the road who aren’t busy with their cell phones!

Amy: I'd like to thank my route 45 driver Ms. Celeste, she is always very pleasant and greets all her riders with a smile and knows all of her regular riders.

Dokun: Thank you for your work! Honestly being a public transit worker in Philadelphia of all cities proves itself time and time to be difficult! The weather, the sometimes wild riders, and so much more, yet I never see unprofessional behavior. Keep up the great work!

Kim: Dear SEPTA conductors, you not only drive subway trains, but are also the driving force for the future. Each day, you give people the opportunity to get to and from work, so they can make a living and care for their families. You give children the opportunity to get to and from school, so that they may receive an education and someday make a living of their own. Lesser known, you give everyone the opportunity -- whether you're making friends with strangers, conversing with fellow sports fans/rivals, watching the Broad Street Line dancers, or giving money to the homeless -- to connect with one another if we weren't on the same train. We invest in you because you care about our future and safety. Thank you for what you do every day, 24/7.

Bridget: THANK you to all of the SEPTA workers for all of the work you put in to keep the city running! I use regional rail, subway, and buses and I know that it is a hard and stressful job, but the drivers and conductors always do their jobs well with a smile on their faces. Thank you again!

Mary: Thank you, thank you, and thank you.  As a daily SEPTA rider, I am grateful that I make it to my destination safely.  Also, I witness firsthand the not-so-nice folks that SEPTA employees (operators) face and you all continue to do your job diligently.  Over the years, I've met some really cool operators and this is the time to thank you for making me smile.  Keep up the wonderful job you do :)

Tina: The regular engineer/conductor who does the announcing on the westbound MFL at 5:39am from FTC is the best. Sounds like he has a pleasant demeanor and apologizes a few times for any delays and explains what the delay is. It seems to make the passengers a little less grumpy about being delayed on their journey.

Ashley: SEPTA operators, engineers and conductors sure do not have it easy especially for inclement weather or special events. One operator I spoke to was very kind. It was during the preparation for the Eagles parade and unfortunately he did not have the answer to my question, but he told me to check back at a certain time to see if my bus to work that day will have a detour. I spoke to other operators as well and they were very friendly over the phone. If it weren't for them and giving me an accuracy of how to get to work that day, I probably would have been at my normal bus stop frustrated that my bus never came. Keep up the good work!

Neil: I appreciate drivers who recognize that their passengers are humans with needs, wants, and lives.

Kathleen: SEPTA is a great asset to Philadelphia. I can no longer drive so everything I do is on public transportation. I am able to still have a great quality of life helped by SEPTA and their personnel. They are always ready with a great attitude and a friendly greeting. They keep to their schedules and make sure no one is left waiting outside in the freezing temperatures or heat. I have lived in a lot of major cities and SEPTA and their personnel are an example of great service to all public transportation systems across the country. Thank you SEPTA and keep up the good work!

Kailey: To all SEPTA Transit Operators, Engineers, and Conductors- Thank you for getting me to work every single day. Your optimistic attitude, without complaint, helps me to find positivity in even the most chaotic days. Whether its rain, shine, snow, or dry, I can always count on you to get me there on time. In winters, your heated seats comfort me in the coldest of times. Your kind words on the loud speaker reassure me that there really is good people in the world who are willing to go out of there way for me. But why me? I would have never imagined strangers to be committed to strangers. SEPTA Transit Operators, Engineers, and Conductors, you keep me free of any dangers. And with that I could never be more appreciative of your service. Thank you.

Erik: As a child, I wanted to become a SEPTA operator. I collected all of the timetables, and as I rode the routes I announced the stops as we would approach them. My neighbors had fun with me as I memorized routes and route numbers, and it has served me well to this day. I never got to work as an operator, but in the last few years I've had the joy of meeting a number of them via SEPTA Facebook groups. They are dedicated women and men who spend long hours getting folks where they're going. The front lines are not for the faint of heart! Stay strong, SEPTA Operators. We love and respect you.

Benjamin: Sending many thanks to the hard-working women and men of the Airport Line - always a safe and friendly way to head to the airport. Plus, their high spirits and welcoming attitude, around the clock, makes SEPTA the only way I like to return to central Philadelphia after travels elsewhere.

Joe: On February 25th we traveled on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line from Jenkintown to Jefferson Station leaving Jenkintown around 1145 am.  The conductor was very helpful, cordial and gracious - a model employee!

Katherine: For the fabulous operators of the 10 Trolley, Many thanks for waiting for me to load my big heavy carts of school supplies onto the trolley and for stopping at a green light when I'm waiting to cross to get on in the rain. You are appreciated!

Alisa: Thank you to all of the wonderful, thoughtful, silly, kind, and helpful operators and conductors that serve on SEPTA's Regional Rail lines, particularly the Manayunk-Norristown line! I have experienced my fair share of scares (weird train noises, shut downs, potentially dangerous passengers) and not once has a transit worker let me down. They are always there taking control of the situation and keeping us informed and comfortable. I can truly tell that safety is their #1 priority and that they take it seriously! And aside from keeping us safe, they always manage to brighten up my daily commute in their own unique and special way! THANK YOU <3

Danielle: I appreciate SEPTA! I love that my kids are now at an age where they can ride SEPTA to school and work! It’s difficult when you have four children who have different places to go and you have to run everyone around...thanks for making my family life easier! I ❤SEPTA!!!

John: Thank you, thank you, to all SEPTA personnel.  Even if we don't say it, and let's be honest we don't enough, especially when we're buried under 8 inches of snow and ice in the dead of winter, we APPRECIATE you!  When we didn't have SEPTA for over a week in 2017 it was a living nightmare.  SEPTA is invaluable to the city of Philadelphia, and that is solely because of the amazing people at the helm.  No matter your role, you are a superstar.  And to the trolley operator who DECKS OUT his trolley for the holidays: ROCK ON, MAN!  Literally the only thing that motivate me to go to work in the morning is the fun and festive spectacle of your trolley car zipping along in West Philly.  Again, thank you, SEPTA.  Your city loves you.

Frank: We recently bought a house in Warrington, and asked my in-laws to live with us.  They're originally from China and speak very little English.  Recently they had to take public transportation from Jefferson Hospital on S. 10th back up to Warrington.  With only a Google map and some translation from my wife, they ventured out.  They knew to head to Jefferson Station to catch the regional rail, Warminster line, but with their English not very good, it was a bit tricky finding the right train.  They told us a young woman in a SEPTA uniform saw their confused looks and offered to help.  The woman didn't know any Chinese, but somehow managed to work through it to figure out they were trying to get to Warrington.  She took the time to assist them and point them to the Warminster line.  She knew that it was the most direct route, would get them close to Warrington and the next train was about to leave.  She even helped them navigate purchasing a pass on the train.  My in-laws arrived safely to Warminster, and were able to contact my wife to pick them up.  It's this act of kindness from SEPTA that keeps me riding the rails!  Thanks from the Bowman's of Warrington!

Nidia: Thank you so much for looking out for all of your riders. 

Joe: Your driver of the 45 route named Joe.  I usually see him around 6:10 am going down 12th street.  He's very friendly to all passengers, people on the street wave to him; he waits for people who are rushing for the bus.  Even though he's a Cowboys fan, I like Joe a lot!

Glorimir: Keeping up with fair, announcing tightest fare, handing out care and maneuvering caboose.  Steel on steel through hole, tales, and weather tails. Coal, steam, or tired brow keeping place in place. Not borrowing in today's, tomorrows, or fields that borough.  Needless to say on Gentry's pace. Thank you.... to a crew of three or more that trail the how, and the grow.

Judy: There is a particular story I want to share though. It was my first Christmas since I moved to Philly and I posted this on Facebook on 12/20/2016 along with a picture of David who is the operator of the famous Christmas trolley: “At last, I rode the decked out Christmas trolley this morning!! This is David. He, his son, and some crew members spent 3 days decorating this trolley. Look at the level of detail...all to spread the holiday cheer. David works longer shifts during the holiday season because he wants more people to see this. All his passengers felt the love that went into this and thanked him as they got off the trolley. You have no idea how long I have been wanting to ride it (#36 btw)...it was like riding in the Catbus from Totoro! #wellonecanonlyimagine I asked David how I could pray for his family, and he asks for prayers of safety. He also recently lost some family members. :( Lastly, he answered some questions I've had as someone who rides the trolley to work every day: 1. We always stop outside 40th because they are changing the old carbon cables, and 2. The reason why you need to step down to exit the doors in the back is because he can't open the doors manually like he can in the front, the passenger needs to step down to enable it (thereby preventing the trolley from moving). Mysteries solved! My life is complete. Thank you, David! #365grateful

Dan: SEPTA employees are great, they keep us from being late, if I could hug them all I would, but I will just thank them as I should.

Seth: Hey everyone thanks for keeping my family and I safe no matter what form of SEPTA we use. You all rock at your jobs and showing kindness compassion to all.
