This week we are exploring SEPTA’s Route 8, formerly known as the Frankford-Olney Express. Service on this Route began on June 19, 1973, and was redesignated the Route 8 on September 4, 1984. The Route 8 begins its journey at Frankford Transportation Center and travels along Pratt Street where it connects with Roosevelt Boulevard. From there, the 8 makes its way along Tabor Road to the Olney Transportation Center.
The Route 8 offers limited stop and only operates on weekdays. This Route makes 108 trips each day.
On a typical weekday, the Route 8 carries 2,929 passengers and travels 540 miles. The Route 8 is a great connector Route, connecting with Regional Rail at Olney Station on the Fox Chase Line. This Route also connects with 10 different SEPTA Routes, including the Broad Street Line, at Olney Transportation Center. The Route 8 also makes connections at Frankford Transportation Center. This is where the 8 connects with 17 other bus routes, as well as the Market-Frankford Line.
