This week we are going to explore SEPTA’s Route 31. SEPTA’s Route 31 travels between Overbrook Park and City Hall in Center City via Lansdowne Avenue and Market Street. The 31 was the first streetcar line to operate into the Subway-Surface Tunnel on December 18, 1905. This route ran in the tunnel until 1907, when the service moved to Market Street.
On a typical weekday, SEPTA’s Route 31 carries 4,838 passengers and travels 873 miles. SEPTA’s Route 31 connects with LUCY in University City, as well as buses and SEPTA Regional Rail at 30th Street Station.
SEPTA’s Route 31 cuts through the heart of Drexel University, making it an easy route for students to hop on and off on the way to class.
