This week we are heading to Delaware County to talk about SEPTA’s Route 113 bus. This route has some pretty impressive stats. The Route 113 is not only the oldest bus route still serving the area, but it is also has the highest number of riders when compared to all other suburban bus routes.
SEPTA’s Route 113 was once known as the Red Arrow Route “M,” but on June 16, 1975 that all changed and the Route 113 was formed. Since then the original route has changed a bit. Currently, the Route 113 travels between 69th Street Transportation Center and the Tri-State Mall in Claymont, Delaware. Back in 1983 the Red Arrow "Route F" and PTC/Red Arrow Route 76 merged into the Route 113, which provided a route to Marcus Hook. In 2009 service was rerouted and extended to the Tri-State Mall in Delaware while service to Marcus Hook was transferred to Route 119.

This route connects with numerous regional rail stations, as well as a large number bus and trolley routes. That helps to explain why so many riders rely on SEPTA’s Route 113 daily. On a typical weekday, the 113 bus carries 6,384 passengers and travels 3,184 miles.
