Route of the Week - 106

September 30, 2016

This week, we'll be exploring SEPTA Bus Route 106. Route 106 is one of 48 Suburban Division bus routes that SEPTA operates. Serving Penn Wynne and Ardmore, the 106 runs along Haverford Road between 69th Street Transportation Center and Paoli. Route 106 averages 1,109 miles and 658 riders per day. While it isn’t the busiest SEPTA bus route, the 106 goes the distance. On its daily ride, Route 106 travels through four different counties, which include Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester.

The Route 106 Map

Route 106 is a former Red Arrow Line bus serviced by Philadelphia Suburban Transit Company (PSTC). Back in these days, it was known as Route "Y." Route Y ran from 69th Street Terminal to Ardmore until 1974, when it was renamed Route 106 and SEPTA took over Red Arrow bus operations. In 2011, service on the 106 was extended to Paoli during peak hours, providing transportation for more commuters and suburban travelers.

Route 106 is formerly known as Route "Y"

If you’re travelling to suburban destinations like as Wynnewood, Ardmore, Devon, or Paoli, hop on the Route 106 and let SEPTA do the driving!
