L.A. Metro uses SEPTA's Ambassador Program as Inspiration

L.A. Metro is launching a new pilot “Transit Ambassador Program” later this year. The focus of the program is to make the system a more welcoming and safer environment. The program is modeled on existing ambassador programs run by BART, serving the Bay Area and SEPTA.
In February SEPTA’s Board approved adding up to 88 guides to serve as ambassadors on the system. Guides will be assigned to stations and vehicles along the Broad Street and Market Frankford Lines, as well as the concourses in Center City.
L.A. Metro’s Transit Ambassador Program like SEPTA’s is providing guides with specialized training as they remind customers about the rules for riding, assist destination-less riders, and contacting police when needed.
SEPTA General Manager and CEO Leslie S. Richards said, “It is our hope that this new approach will help reduce quality-of-life complaints and make our system more welcoming to riders.”
